Law and Grace PART 1

THE BAD DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN THE LAW OF GOD AND THE LAW OF MOSES
(The Servants of God, as mediators between God and Men)

The Bible speaks of two main pacts that God established with Man. One with the people of Israel and another for all humanity. The first covenant called, that of the Law, was earthly and was given through Moses and the second called that of Grace, was given through Jesus Christ.

There are religious groups that make distinctions and think that in the first covenant there were two laws. The Law of God and the Law of Moses. Making the distinction because they believe that the ten commandments that were written on stone tablets were the Law of God and that the law of Moses was the one that was written in a book. Never in the scriptures do we find that the commandments given by God directly are superior to those given by the mouth of Moses.

God had already said in Jeremiah 31:31 that he was going to make a new covenant and that now his law would be written on the heart, not on stone tablets. In other words, the commandments that were written on stone tablets were 10 and God, through Jeremiah, is saying that he was going to see a new covenant. The stone tablets were the testimony of that covenant that God made with the people of Israel and with no other people. Now in the new covenant, his law was written in the hearts of his people. (2nd Cor. 3:3)

In grace one lives under the law of Christ, since the law of Moses was abrogated in the old covenant. So there is no point in fulfilling something that was removed. Christ in his law taught love for God and neighbor. He never taught, neither he nor his apostles, to keep the Sabbath, the commandment that the Sabbathists believe should be kept even in these times, on the contrary, in one of the passages of scripture we clearly see that he not only healed at rest, but also ordered to one whom he healed that will carry his bed. John 5:8:9

We also see through the scriptures that when Christ was on earth, he lived under the law and necessarily had to continue teaching compliance with it, since while He did not offer himself as a sacrifice, the law was still in force. But he had to teach the new law. It was necessary for it to be so, since there had to be testimony of his words.

For example, Christ taught those lepers who were cleansed to appear with the priests to fulfill the ordinances of the law that Moses had given directly, but with regard to the commandments given directly by God, there are passages where he teaches new commandments regarding each of them or definitely remove them. Examples would be the following:

1.- The adulterous woman, the payment for her adultery was death and he forgave her.
(This was one of the first 10 commandments)

2.- The lepers were sent to the priests to fulfill what Moses said.
(This was not in the first 10 commandments)

3.- Regarding the commandment, you will not take the name of the Lord in vain. Christ commanded that oaths should definitely not be taken. May your talk be YES, yes or No, no.
(This was one of the first 10 commandments)

4.- On the Sabbath he not only healed, and healing was a work and that is why they pointed it out, but he also ordered one who was paralyzed to carry his bed. Which shouldn't be done.
(This was one of the first 10 commandments)

5.- The commandment of an eye for an eye, was another of the commandments that was observed and changed by another. In other words, Christ not only spoke of the 10 commandments given directly by God, but also mentioned the others given through Moses. For Christ there was no difference between commandments.
(This was not in the first 10 commandments.)

6.- In the case of the rich young man, he gave him, in addition to the commandments written on the tablets, another commandment that was not written anywhere in the law. Also, Christ NEVER mentioned to the Rich young man that he will keep the Sabbath. If it was as important as the sabbaticals say, it would have been mentioned.

7.- He also said “you heard that it was said to the ancients, “you shall not kill” and Christ adds something else or goes deeper into that commandment. Anyone who is angry with his brother, anyone who is called a fool will be guilty of judgment. Matthew 5:21:22

That is, Christ made reference not only to commandments given by the mouth of Moses, but also to the first ten commandments. For Christ, there was no such distinction between commandments, as those who keep the Sabbath do. For him, all the commandments given on Mount Sinai were commandments for slavery and that is why he came to give new commandments, which were to give freedom. Since his commandments were part of a new covenant.
